Hi! I’m Annika Malacinski, a professional Nordic Combined skier on the U.S. Women’s National Team. I grew up between Finland and Steamboat Springs, Colorado — two places where winter has always been at the center of my life. From an early age, snow wasn’t just part of my sport; it was part of who I am.

As an athlete who spends nearly every day outdoors, I’ve seen firsthand how our winters are changing. Shorter seasons, unpredictable snow, and rising temperatures are already affecting the future of Nordic sports and the communities that depend on them. That’s why I’m proud to stand with Protect Our Winters — to use my voice and platform to advocate for climate action and help protect the places and experiences that have given me so much.
For me, protecting our winters means protecting my sport, my home, and the next generation of athletes who deserve to experience the same magic of snow that I did growing up.
