Cam Smith is an unreasonably proud Midwest native who moved to Gunnison, Colorado, for college, where he found competitive skimo racing. After receiving some hand-me-down gear from mentors and being guided in the right directions, he has since become a 13x National Champion and is an Olympic hopeful for the 2026 Winter Games. Coming of age in a community defined by snow and alpine access, Cam learned quickly that these places are worth defending.

Cam now balances racing professionally for Dynafit with part-time instructing at the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte. A Leave No Trace Master Educator, Cam integrates environmental ethics into his teaching, helping participants of all abilities connect with and care for the natural world.
