Dr. Mauri Pelto

Glaciologist

Dr. Mauri Pelto has been a Associate Provost at Nichols College and Professor of Environmental Science at Nichols College in Massachusetts since 1989. Additionally, Pelto is a Glaciologist and has been the Science Director of the North Cascade Glacier Climate Project since 1984. This project monitors the mass balance and behavior of more glaciers than any other in North America. This includes three glaciers that are now world reference glaciers for the World Glacier Monitoring Service. Pelto has been a Member of NASA Earth Observatory Science Advisory Team and an author of American Geophysical Union blog, “From a Glacier’s Perspective” since 2014. This lifetime of work combines a love of snow and skiing with a concern for climate change.
