Mikey Schaefer

Mikey started climbing at age 13 in the Pacific Northwest but migrated south to Yosemite Valley just after graduating high school. By chance, while in Yosemite, Mikey was introduced to a photo editor at Patagonia who encouraged him to pursue a career in photography. Quickly after this meeting Mikey was shooting photos full time and travelling the world blending his job as a photographer and as a professional climber. Photography slowly lead him in to the world of filmmaking and eventually to winning an Emmy for his work as Director of Photography for Free Solo. Though he is best known for him images from around the world Mikey still considers himself a climber before anything else.
