Nina Riggio

Visual Storyteller

Nina is a seasoned visual storyteller with over a decade of experience, dividing her time between Santa Fe, New Mexico and California. Her passion lies in capturing the intricate human connections to nature, flaws and all. With a dedicated focus on sustainability, Nina strives to deliver gritty, raw, and unexpected narratives.

Her adventurous spirit is evident in feats such as biking solo across the United States, completing a 500-mile solo hike across Colorado in just 23 days, and achieving first ascents in Gates of the Arctic, the northernmost National Park in the U.S. Her personal style has been dubbed ‘cowgirl punk’. Beyond photography, Nina is also a contract archaeologist, boasts over two decades of climbing experience, and enjoys off-roading in her 1994 Mitsubishi Delica, affectionately named Annie Oakley.

Nina’s work has graced the pages and platforms of National Geographic, TIME, and she is a frequent contributor to The New York Times and Patagonia. She is a proud member of Women Photograph and a distinguished Jackson Wild Media Fellow. In addition to her photographic achievements, Nina brings extensive behind-the-scenes experience from movie sets. Currently, Nina is immersed in creating a documentary on bear migrations through the desert and producing a documentary on the orca and boat interactions in the Iberian Peninsula.
