Support Clean Energy Storage in Clark County
The Aoki Battery Storage (BESS) project is a 400 MW battery storage facility northwest of Las Vegas. Battery storage projects support existing or future solar development by storing excess energy to be deployed when the sun is not shining.
Key benefits:
- Economic Investment: The project will contribute an estimated $700 million in private investment in energy infrastructure to help meet local needs and $9.2 million in local taxes over its lifetime. This creates new support for the schools, first responders, and other public services. Construction of the facility will also create 75 jobs.
- Grid Resilience: BESS can supply the electrical grid during power disruptions or extreme weather outages. This ensures critical infrastructure and safety systems, from lighting to air conditioning, can keep running when needed.
- Reducing Power Costs: By storing excess energy when electricity prices are low, and later discharging that energy when demand is high = grid efficiency and lower utility costs.
- Decarbonization: 400MW can power ~300,000 homes with zero emissions. This is the future that we want for our desert city!
