Gabriela Hydle
She is a Mayan Guatemalan woman, a mother, a Waldorf Early Childhood and Spanish teacher, a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, and the founder of Bici Libre, the first Latino and Latina gravel cycling team in Colorado. She found cycling in her early 40s, and it changed everything. What started as one mountain bike class became a domino effect that reshaped who she is and what she believed was possible for herself and her community.
This is a story about grief and resilience. About a mother who found herself on a trail. About a community that deserved a space and finally has one. And about a woman who refused to wait for permission to belong.
She is a BICP Level 1 Certified Mountain Bike Coach, the first Guatemalan woman to earn this certification. This year, she completed her first relay Ironman, completing the biking portion, and is currently training for her first Enduro race. She is a coach and ambassador for VNTRbirds, an ambassador for Protect Our Winters and Women of Colorado, and a volunteer with Latino Outdoors, Colorado Mountain Bike Association, and Mile High 360. She is a proud member of the Coalition for Everyone Outdoors Colorado, and part of the Adventure Cycling and Regional Community Stewards Program with Bikepacking Roots.
Her mission is simple: to open doors for people who have never seen themselves on a trail, at a start line, or in an outdoor community. To break language barriers, build belonging, and use every ride, every class, and every conversation to show her community that this space was always theirs.
Because when people finally see themselves out there, something shifts. And they keep going.
