Katie Lozancich
Photographer
Storytelling has been Katie Lozancich’s passion since she got her first National Geographic subscription as a kid (which she bought with her allowance money). Those glossy pages and rich photographs catalyzed her career as an award-winning freelance storyteller and artist, creating content and stories for countless brands and magazines. Katie Lozancich has worked as an action sports photographer and storyteller for the past 10 years, working for Teton Gravity Research as Digital Content Coordinator & Contributor before starting her own freelance photography business.
Growing up in Sacramento, it wasn’t until after high school that Katie fell in love with skiing. She remembers seeing her first Warren Miller film as a teenager, which later prompted her to drop everything and move to Truckee, CA to pursue life in the mountains. She earned a degree in Photography from Sierra College and a degree in Visual Communications from Seattle Pacific University before chasing winter to Jackson, WY. In 2023, Katie was recognized as a Red Bull Illume semi-finalist and has produced feature stories for Freehub Magazine and multimedia campaigns for Arc’teryx, Red Bull, Pivot Cycles and Destination Queenstown.
Katie tends to wear many creative hats—director, producer, photographer, artist, and writer are just a few to name—and her work blurs the lines between documentary and fine art. In addition to being a freelancer, Katie works as the photo editor for The Ski Journal, combining her love of storytelling and visual arts in the pages one of skiing’s leading independent publications.Edit Biography
