Aspen Snowmass And The U.S. Ski Team Put Climate Advocacy On The Global Stage with Climate World Cup
World Cup ski racing garners a global audience of millions each race. At the Aspen Snowmass stop in March 2023, we worked with their team, as well as leadership from the U.S. Ski Team to put climate and climate advocacy front and center with viewers around the world.
Before the event, POW helped train U.S. Ski Team athletes on current climate science, policy landscape, and how to effectively communicate to their fans on climate. Aspen Snowmass has always been out front on climate advocacy in the ski industry and made a great venue to launch the Climate World Cup.
At the event, POW branding accompanied simple messaging and calls to action and U.S. Ski Team athletes incorporated climate into press appearances. To wrap up the event POW, Aspen Snowmass, and the U.S. Ski Team brought together a panelist of athletes, CEOs, and sustainability leaders to discuss collective action to take on climate change.
Our sports are really an endangered species if we look to the long term. So it’s absolutely something we are very, very focused on….we can’t be passive. We’re way behind already.
